I just finished recording, editing, and submitting my lines for my recent role of Jane Bennet in a LibriVox reading of Mary Keith Medbery Mackaye’s Pride and Prejudice: A Play. So incredibly fun. Especially because I’m always happy for any opportunity to stretch my RP English legs a bit…especially as such a beloved Austin character. 🙂
I’ve always appreciated Jane Bennet. She is, perhaps, a bit too optimistic regarding the general follies of human nature, but she has such a genuinely loving and compassionate heart. Gotta love her for that. Besides, due to this particular aspect of her character, Jane realizes – long before Elizabeth does – that perhaps Darcy is simply socially awkward, quiet, reserved, and that there just might be some unknown reason for what seems to be a lack of gentlemanly behavior toward the populous of Meryton…
Good on you, Miss Bennet!
😉
Cheers, all.
